Christopher C RIGGS

Volunteered at Dobson 4 May 1861 in the first group to organize and leave Surry after the Civil War began.  He suffereds a gunshot wound, and entered a Richmond hospital 24 May 1864.  He made Sergeant 1 Sep 1864.  He suffered another wound around Jones Farm, VA, 10 Sep 1864 and his arm had to be amputated.  He received a disability discharge 4 Feb 1865.  Sgt. Co A 28 Reg NC
