Note 6d________ Oct 14,1830 with your mother (you at your mothers' breast) I left Surry Co.l Where you were ...... The cash in hand with me, 50 years ago int. was just $11.25. i had 1 horse, old rattle-trap of one-horse wagon, and 700 miles west of me. You and others would say that $11.25 would give out. Of course it did give out but G. Taylor did not give out. When the$11.25 were gone G.T. worked, worked, worked on. As I may never talk to you again about my move 1830, I wish to tell you the noble part that your mother took to help me on. While I used the axe she used the needle. Her thimble and needle were busy to speed me on. This is how as you can see from my date, 50 years ago, you were yet at your mother's breast.
Leatha, your mother was a good woman. When you go home please read what I said at the head of her grave when she was burried. The little I did say means much in the name of all that is great and good. I say that your mother was a good woman. In looking over my records I see that I have omitted the births of my brothers and sisters. (Names and birth dates noted).
