Cousin Larry,
I was in the Denton area last week and while there visited the Chinns Chapple Cemetery. I had heard that there were Hyatt graves there. There is a large section of Pinkley graves but the only one I found of Hiatt was the following:
Hiatt, L. B.- M.D. 11-18-1839
Lundy Place of birth: Indiana
Benigatt Son of: Eli Hiatt (2-1--1795 - North
Carolina - 9-6-1886 in Randolph
County, Indiana - interred: unknown
and Hannah (Morrow) Hiatt (2-6-1801 -
North Carolina -
Husband of: Sarah Gimke W. (Wattles)
Hiatt (12-1837 - Ohio - 11-2-1891 -
interred: Mound City, Kansas).
*See additional info at end of letter "H"
concerning Sarah Grimke W. (Wattles) Hiatt.
Hyatt, L. B. See entry for Hiatt, L. B.
*Sarah Grimde W. (Wattles) Hiatt
Daughter of:Augustus Wattles (8-25-1809 -Conneticut -
12-29-1867 - interred: Woodlawn Cemetery , Linn County,
Kansas) and Susan E. (Lowe) Wattles (10-10- 1810-
Massachusetts - 12-19- 1898- interred Woodlawn
Cemetery, Linn County, Kansas
Sarah was living in Princinct 4 of Dentton County, Texas
in the 1900 U S Cwnsus as "Head of household" with Paul, Minnie and Lucy Crowder living with her as boarders.
Sarah was living in Montezuma County, Colorado withe her brother, Theodore W. Wattles (5-1840 Ohio - 10-7-1912 - interred: Cedar Grove, Cemetery,
Montezumma County, Colorado) and his family according to the 1910 US Census.
Sarah was a licensed physician of Allopathic medicine. She was licensed in Kansas in 1870 and Texas in 1907.
In 1866, Sarah's husband, L.B. Hiatt, was practicing the same medicine in Mound City, Kansas.
Sarah's sister, Mary Wattles, born in 1842 in Ohio was a practicing physician in Neward, Essex County, New Jersey in 1870.
Sarah died 11-2-1910 in Kansas City, Missouri is interred in Mound City, Kansas.
This is a lot of information to be in a cemetery record, so I thought you might have interest in some of it. I don't know if there is relation between this Hiatt and the Stwphen S. Hyatt clan in Denton, Texas. John W. Hyatt, Stephen's son by wife Jennie from England became a country doctor and practiced in the Denton area. I believe he is burried in Aubrey in Denton, County.
I had a nice visit with Sam and Bac and their daughter Lisa. Bac is having cateract surgery. She is delighted with the result of the first one and looking forward to the other one in a week or so. They plan to return to Vietnam about the 20th of October.
God's best to you todfay.
B A Hyatt
