Ernest Lee Montgomery, 84, of Pilot Mountain, N.C., died Friday, November 3, 2006, at Northern Hospital of Surry County in Mount Airy, N.C.  He was born September 18, 1922 in Patrick County to the late Mack Robert and Lona Marshall Montgomery. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Viola Beck Montgomery; his second wife, Bertha Alice Edwards Montgomery; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Montgomery Warden; a grandson, James Robert Stevens Jr.; a sister, Hattie Edwards; a brother, Frank Montgomery; and a half-sister, Ola Bowman.  He was a farmer for many years and attended Beulahland Baptist Church. He was also an avid foxhunter.  Surviving are one daughter, Shirley Stevens of Pilot Mountain; one brother, Charlie Montgomery of Asheboro, N.C.; and one granddaughter.  Funeral services were conducted Monday at Beulahland Baptist Church by the Revs. Anthony Gordy and Clayton Smith.
