David settled in Ohio, while James laid the foundation of his home near Piedmont, Kansas. These two gentlemen still hale and hearty, were present. Uncle Jim being 99 years old. And with him was his wife, Aunt Jane, a sweet faced little lady, almost as old as her husband. The remainder of the guests being descendants and relatives of these two "Sons of Erin.Howard Courant Thursday, November 17, 1927DEATH OF JAMES MOOREJames Moore, better known as Uncle Jim or Grandpa Moore passed away Tuesday of last week at his home in Piedmont. He was a very aged man being 98 years old but still quite active. He will be greatly missed by all since he had been with us for so long a time. His parents were also very aged. His father reached 100 years, his mother 99 years of age. Grandpa came and built his home south of Piedmont before even a railroad was known, where the city of Piedmont is now built. He drove oxen to Fall River to get a sack of corn ground and often drove 60 miles to get lumber to build his home. He had many experiences we will never have for ourselves since he was an early settler of Kansas. The Indians used to pass through his place everyday. His seven children were all present for the funeral and 29 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren are left to mourn his death. The relatives from distant towns attending the funeral were: Mr. Alpheus Moore of Thomas, Oklahoma; Mr. and Mrs. Purl Honstead and two children of Dighton, Kansas; Mr. Rufus Moore of Larkinburg, Kansas; Mrs. Olga Jenkins and daughter of Springfield, Missouri, Mrs. Stella Yarbrough of Blackwell, Oklahoma; Mrs. Daisy Moore and Mildred and Hazel Moore of Pittsburg, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Murrey of Leon, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Allen Moore, Viola, Marie and Cecil Allen Richardson of Beaumont, Kansas and Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Love and daughter of Udall, Kansas. There were many relatives from Severy and Howard and near towns. The funeral services were held in the Christian church by the Methodist and Christian minister.
