Funeral services for William P. Moon, a longtime resident of East galesburg who died there Tuesday morning will be held at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternnon from the East Galesburg Christian church, in charge of the Rev. M. F. Stuart. Burial will be in Linwood cemetery. Friends may call tonight at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Johnson in East Galesburg.
William Pinkerton Moon was born in Clinton County, Ohio on Sept 4, 1851 and died at 10:45 o'clock yesterday morning in the home of his daughter Mrs. Roscoe Johnson, in East Galesburg. He was 88 years, 7 months and 19 days old.
He was the youngest child of a family of eight children born to William and Lydia (Bales) Moon, and all preceded him in death. At the age of two, he came with his parents to Illinois and settled on a farm north of London Mills, where he lived until his marriage in 1875 to Nebraska Davis. In 1892, the family moved to East Galesburg, where Mr. Moon for a number of years was kiln foreman of the Purington brickyards. He united with the Christian church when it was organized in East Galesburg in 1895, and belonged to the Modern Woodmen.
Mrs. Moon died in 1935. to the couple were born six children, of whom three preceded their father in death, Owan and Ivan dying in infancy, and John R. Moon expiring Oct 6, 1925. The surviving children are Lyman T. moon, and Guy B. Moon of Galesburg and Mrs. Blanche Johnson of East Galesburg. There are seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews remaining

Moon, a resident of East Galesburg for 42 years, who died at her home there Sunday afternoon after an illness dating from Christmas day, will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Christian church in East Galesburg with the Rev. S.H. Zendt officiating. Burial will be in Linwood cemetery in Galesburg. Mrs. Moon, whose maiden name was Nebraska Davis, was the daughter of Judge Evan D. and Harriett Miller Davis, and was born in Mackinaw in Tazewell county., May 22, 1854. She often recalled a historical incident in the life of Abraham Lincoln which was coupled with the judicial career of her father. The only time that Lincoln ever served as a judge was on a case in Judge Davis' court, when the latter was personally interested in a case and named Lincoln as acting judge to prevent any legal controversey in the hearing. When a child her family moved to near Maquon and it was there that she was married to William P. Moon, August 27, 1874. During their entire married life, Mr. and Mrs. Moon were never separated for any great length of time, the longest being on one occasion when Mrs. Moon made a two weeks visit with relatives. The couple celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary last August in their home in which they had resided 41 years. Prior to locating in East Galesburg, Mr. and Mrs. Moon had made their home near Maquon, London Mills, Hermon and spent a short time in Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas. They had lived in East Galesburg 42 years. Surviving are her husband and three children, Lyman T. Moon and Mrs. Blanche Johnson, both of East Galesburg, and Guy B. Moon, Galesbug. A sister, Mrs. Martha Ashton resides in Galesburg. there are eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Three children, John R. Moon, who died nine years ago and Ivan and Owen, died in infancy. three sisters, Mrs. Emmett Howard, Mrs. Abraham G. Powelson and Mrs. G.A Keys preceded Mrs. Moon in death. Mrs. Moon was a member of the christian church in East Galesburg, her affilation dating from the founding of the church 40 years ago. It will be in this church that funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon. Block 45, lot 23 21/2 Linwood Cem. Funeral: Ms. W. P. Moon - Last rites for Mrs. W. P. Moon were held at 2:30 this afternoon from the Christian church at East Galesburg, in charge of the Rev. S.H. Zend., Mrs. Harry Kennedy and Mrs. Elmer DeBois, accompanied by Mrs. J.H. McBride, sang "No Night There," "We'll Never Say Good-Bye' and "Old Rugged Cross."
Pallbearers were Harl Benson, Bert Benson, Curtis Wilkins, Charles Keys, Ralph Hartman and A. J. Powelson.
