n.d.Funeral Services Held For Tom Heller
Funeral services were held in Millett last week for Tom Heller, age85, who passed away following a long illness.
Deceased was born in La Grange County, and came to this county in1922.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Mae Turner and Mrs. LillianLayonof Holland, Texas; Mrs. Lorene Stevens, of Burengton , Texas; and Mrs. Ruth Gibbs, Riverside, Calif., two sons, A. P.Heller of Texas City and L. W. Heller, of Millett; also 17grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted by Brother Meadows of Cotulla, withinterment at Millett. Pallbearers included Louis and Bill Heller,Oscar Layton, Jr., C. H. Brown, Roy Duncan and Jake Epperson.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In Memoriam - Tom Heller
Tom Heller of Millett, pioneer Texan, age 85 years, 5 months, and 23days, died Tuesday, January 21, 1946.
Burial was given Wednesday 23rd. in the Millett cemetery, Rev.Meadows, Baptist pastor conducting the service.
Pall bearers were: C. H. Brown of Dilley, Jake Epperson and RoyDuncan of Millett, and three grandsons of Mr. Heller, Louis and BillHeller of Millett, Oscar Layton of Holland, Texas.
Mr. Heller is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Mae Turner and Mrs.Lillian Layton of Holland, Texas; Mrs. Lorene Stevens, Burlington,Texas; Mrs. Ruth Gibbs, Riverside, California; two sons A. P. Heller,Texas City, L. W. Heller of Millett, Texas, 16 grand children, 1 stepgrandchild. One daughter preceded him in death.
Tom Heller was born at LaGrange, Fayette County, Texas, in 1860, andresided there until 1904; he lived at Midland, Texas 18 years, and in1922 came to Millett, LaSalle county, making his home there until hisdeath.
Tom Heller was an honest, industrious man, engaged for many yearyin farming and livestock business. The census record states that Nannie Heller is the mother of onechild, which is clearly incorrect since the following four childrenare obviously hers. The numeral "1" is probably a mistake for "4".
