David Ross Emry, 64, of Meridian, passed away July 8, 2006 at a Boise hospital. Graveside services will be July 14, 2006 at the Greenleaf Cemetery, Greenleaf. Memorial services will be Friday at the Meridian Friends Church, Meridian.
Dave was born May 6, 1942 in Tacoma, WA to Luther and Iva Roberts Emry. When he was 2 years old his father moved his family to Greenleaf to give each child a Christian education. Dave attended Greenleaf grade school and Greenleaf Friends Academy, as had his older siblings before him.
After graduation from GFA in the spring of 1960, he married his high school sweetheart, Joan Howard that following September. To this marriage were born two children Kevin and Lisa. In the summer of 1964 the family moved to Boise where Dave attended Boise State (College) University.
After earning his Bachelors degree in English August of 1969 and later his Masters Degree in reading, he began his teaching career in September of 1969 at Borah High School. During that time he was the cornerstone in organizing High School Drag Racing with Firebird Raceway. He retired in May of 2001 after a 32 year career at B.H.S. In 1987, Dave and Joan were able to realize a life time dream of purchasing a motorcycle. A short time later, they learned of an organization known as the Christian Motorcyclists Association where they became active as members and in a leadership capacity, until the time of his illness.
He is survived by his wife, his sweetheart and best friend, Joan of Meridian, his two children Kevin (Bonnie) Emry of Nampa; and Lisa (Troy) Thomas of Meridian; three surviving brothers; Randall (Norma) Emry of Talent, OR; Don (Louise) Emry of Kuna; Gary (Linda) Emry of Boise; one sister Corrine (Hank) Douty of Boise; 6 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Lorraine and a brother Duane.
Friends may call Thursday at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
