John Allen Tuning, 74 passed away Thursday, January 24, 2008, at Rogue Valley Medical Center.. He was
born December 1, 1933 in Caldwell, Idaho, the son of Theodore and Donna Tuning.
He served a total of 23 years in the U. S. Army, retiring April 30, 1974 in Alaska. He served one term in
the Korean War and three terms in the Vietnam War. While living in Alaska he met and married Carol Anne
Jones in Bird Creek, Alaska.
John was a master diesel mechanic who could work on any engine. He drove long-haul for England for 10
years before retiring to enjoy his family, fishing and watching football. He loved watching the 49ers play.
John is survived by his daughter, Tina, of Salt Lake City, Utah; his son, Tom, of Anchorage, Alaska; sister,
Virginia and Annetta; a brother, David; brother-in-law Neal; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carol; son, Joe; and his parents.
Services will be held Thursday, January 31, 2008 at Conger~Morris at 10:00 a.m., with military services
following at the V.A. National Cemetery in Eagle Point, Oregon at 11:00 a.m. Arrang

Carol Tuning of Roosevelt, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2000 at the Utah Valley Regional
Medical Center in Provo.
Carol was born April 22, 1938 in Shelton, Washington, the daughter of Ivor and Margaret Elizabeth
Werner Konikson.
She married John Tuning February 23, 1971 in Anchorage, Alaska. Carol lived in a number of areas. She
was raised in Dean Wood, Oregon. She lived in Alaska till 1987. She had also lived in Boise, Idaho, Eugene,
Oregon, Salt Lake City, and then her last five years in Roosevelt.
Carol enjoyed doing crafts of many kinds. One of her favorite things to do was to visit with others. She
was big hearted and would do anything for others. She felt her life was good when she was helping someone
else.
She is survived by her husband, John, daughter Tina Louise Tuero, Salt Lake City; stepson Thomas W.
Tuning, Anchorage, Alaska; Mother, Margaret Elizabeth Konikson, Bird Creek, Alaska; brother David
Konikson, Tempe, Arizona; and three grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father Ivor Konikson. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February
24th, at the Hullinger-Olpin Mortuary, Roosevelt, Utah. Friends and family may call 1 hour prior to services.
