Lower Merion Meeting House
He and Margery Hayhurst declared intentions of marriage in April and May, 1682. The marriage was of short duration, for she died 5 11m 1682/3, a little more than a year after their arrival.“Thomas and Margery Stackhouse were also named in the Settle certificate, so they should have been on the “Lamb” with their relatives from that Yorkshire Meeting. Thomas does not appear in the relevant port book, but he wouldn’t if he brought only personal things, and nothing to barter or sell. He had been only recently married to Margery, whose maiden name was Hayhurst. . . Margery died the following spring, and unlike most widowers, Stackhouse did not marry again for many years. Two nephews, Thomas and John, are said to to have come with him, and certainly the elder and the younger Thomas each owned herds of cows when “cattle-marks” (to identify each animal) were registered in 1684.”pg.18
