John Jacob (1632 - 1726)
John Jacob was born 1632 in County can't England, who is a member of the established Church of England. 1665, At the age of 33, became the Maryland indentured servant of James Warner, Esquire. Of the South River Hundred. Onto December 1674 John Jacob from his right to 50 acres of land, "for his time of service performed". In warrant was issued for the 50 acres onto March 1675. This is beginning of the largest eight on South River
In 1681, John Jacob married and Cheney. She was a daughter of Richard Cheney, a neighbor planter. Before the death of Richard Cheney, he needed to John Jacob, "for natural love and affection", hundred and 50 acres of "Cheney's Resolution", in anne Arundel County. In 1726 John was a witness in court over the estate of Richard Cheney. He swore that he was about 94 years of age.
John Jacob died in October of 1726. Is buried All Hallows Parish on 29 October 1726. The early records of All Hallows Parish contained many doors, baptisms, marriages and burials of Jacobs family.
John Jacob Levy well dated for June 1719 is proved no one December 1726. By this well John Junior received the parent of dwelling and plantation on the South River boarding Jacob's Creek. Joseph and Benjamin were devised 200 acres of land in Prince George's County. His wife receive the residue of the reality and personal estate during her life. The land was then divided between the two younger sons, record and Richard and Samuel. The two daughters would receive the personal estate.
And survive the husband by nearly 4 years she died in the spring of 1730. She is buried from all hallows. On one May 1730.

This letter I had copied for you says sons of John Gass, Benjamin and William Gass came to US abt 1690 to 1700 so they must have been older then what I have. Maybe John was older too. The boys came over to start a fuller mill. I don't have a William. It may be he has another name or maybe it could be John's brother.1998 Roxann Gass Smith Descnedant of John Gass - Scottish.
Name was Gafs-Gask, Gess, Guess, maybe more ways, finally Gass. John Gass and Family in KY., went by Gess and still do now.

War in 1792 to defend settlers. His son, Patrick, took his place and served in the fathers place. McLenes Socttish and had a fulling mill to treat cloth for garments.
