Howard Elton WISWELL Jr.

Howard Wiswell, age 82, died December 6, 2002.
Howard Elton Wiswell, Jr., age 82, of Roosevelt, died December 6, 2002 at the Uintah Basin Medical Center.
He was born September 21, 1920 in Haverhill, Massachusetts to Howard Elton Sr. and Esther Helen Symonds Wiswell.
He married Margaret Fuller CarSkaden May 6, 1944 at Alameda Air Station, California. She died February of 1953. He married Norma Haslem in May of 1953 and they were later divorced. He married Joyce Irene Knapp May 17, 1974 in Lakewood, Colorado; their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple March 17, 1978.
Howard was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy and attained rank of Chief Petty Officer. Following the service he attended college at the Colorado School of Mines where he was captain of the Swim team. He was schooled in chemistry and metallurgy and worked as a chemist some years for the mines and at Kennecott Copper and a cobalt plant in Salt Lake City. He also worked at Welfare Square, sold permanent cookware for many years, owned and operated a tilling and mowing and custodial business in Salt Lake City and a custodial business in the Denver area.
He was baptized a member of the LDS church in 1953 and served as a Gospel Doctrine teacher, High Priest Group leader and he and Joyce served a full-time mission to the Philippines from March 1992 to March of 1994.
He enjoyed working with computers, genealogy, the mountains and reading. He liked photography and loved to take pictures of the kids and grandkids and did some wedding and outdoor photography.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Roosevelt; Sons and daughters, Margie (Larry) Zirker, Idaho Falls, ID; Patty (John) Allred, LaPoint; Barbara (Russell) Evans, Loma, CO; Mary (Daniel) Stubbs, St. George; Howard Elton “Buddy” (Marcia) Wiswell, III, Vernal; Lynette Provost, St. George; Richard (Teri) Sabo, Atlanta, GA; Kenneth (Audra) Sabo, Topeka, KS; Karen (Dennis) Salisbury, Roosevelt; Donald Sabo, Orlando, FL; Michael Sabo, Duchesene; 59 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren; and 1 brother, Allen (Ann) Symonds, Topsville, MA.
He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Alan “Tommy” Wiswell, daughter, Martha “Mardi” Wiswell Koning; 6 grandchildren; and a sister, Martha Wiswell Archer.
Funeral services held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2002, at the Roosevelt 1st Ward Chapel. Friends and family may call at the Hullinger Mortuary Monday from 6-8 p.m., and from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church on Tuesday.
Burial in the Vernal Memorial Park under direction of the Hullinger Mortuary.
