George Dee Ross
George Dee Ross, age 63, husband of Louise Johnson of Vernal died on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003 at Ashley Valley Medical Center. George was born on Sept. 27, 1940 to Ivan George and Ruby Anderson Ross in Roosevelt.He married Louise Johnson on Dec. 11, 1968. They just celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary.George enjoyed going hunting, fishing and just being outdoors with his family and all his grandchildren. He was a truck driver for Intermountain Concrete.George is survived by his wife of 35 years, Louise; children, David Wayne (Tina) Batty of Vernal; Brent Dee (Jonah) Batty of Vernal; DeAnn (Cole) Hacking of Vernal; Tina Louise Barry of Vernal; Emily (Ali) Al-Saedy of Vernal; sisters, June (Dewey) Caldwell of Vernal; Jean Wilkin of Roosevelt; 11 grandchildren with 1 on the way and 5 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way.Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 26, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Glines 5th Ward Chapel (1270 W. 1500 So.). Family and friends may call on Friday one hour prior to the services at the Chapel.Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park with Military Honors by American Legion Posts 124 & 11 under the direction of Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
George Dee Ross
George Dee Ross was born on September 27, 1940 and passed away on December 21. Services were held on Dec. 26 in the Glines 5th Ward LDS Chapel. Compassionate services were given by the Glines 5th Ward Relief Society and Bishop Neldon Seitz conducted. Kay Farnsworth offered the family prayer and the congregation sang the opening hymn, "O My Father." The invocation was offered by Jeff Hall and Denice Allen performed, "Grandpa Tell Me About the Good Old Days." Garn Massey spoke and Denice Allan performed the musical number, "Wind Beneath My Wings." Dewey Caldwell spoke and Dale Allen performed the musical number, "If Tomorrow Never Comes." Bishop Neldon Seitz gave some remarks and the congregation sang the closing hymn, "Abide With Me." Jean Wilkins offered the benediction. Military Honors were given by American Legion Posts 124 and 11.
Vern F. Batty
Vern Ford Batty, 75, passed away May 17, 2000 at his home in Vernal. He was born Nov. 1, 1924 in Vernal, a son of Daniel and Bessie Ford Batty. He married Maureen Ostberg on Sept. 8, 1947 then later divorced. He married Elaine Allred on July 10, 1970 then later divorced.
Vern served in World War II in the United States Navy and USS Apache. He was a mechanic and worked on diesel and heavy equipment. All of his life he was a rancher. He was an active member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He proudly volunteered services in the A.A. and NA programs for 13 years.
Vern enjoyed his family, fishing trips and the great outdoors. He worked for Dowell Chemical, Kate Equipment, Continental Trailways and also Basin Machine. He went into American Gilsonite.
He was loved and respected by all that knew him. He also enjoyed when he traveled in the winter to Why, Ariz., and he especially enjoyed the friends he made while in Why.
He is survived by children, Dana (Jack) Cumberledge, Verna Sue Batty, Brad Batty, David Batty, Brent Batty and DeAnn Hacking, 20 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren, brother, Neal Batty, two sisters, Marie (Don) Wardle, Nola (Karl) Kendal.
He was preceeded in death by his beloved father and mother, Daniel and Bessie Ford Batty; his brother, Rex Batty, and also precious infant son, two loved infant grandsons.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 22, in the Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
