Birth date given for Alfred F. "Tutt" Dennis September 19, 1867 on birth page of family bible in possession of Inis Dennis Watson, widow of Clure Judson Dennis, son of A. F. Dennis. Pages were copied and sent to me in 1988. Mrs. Watson stated that this bible had belonged to Thomas J. M. Dennis father of Alfred. Thomas birth is the first listed on the birth page. The first marriage recorded on the marriage page is Thomas J M Dennis and P M Dennis (Permelia Marcum) on October 16, 1856.
According to the marriage page of this bible "A F Dennis and Hattie E. Patterson was married November the 15 1891" (the 91 was written above the original numbers which are unreadable on the copy). "A F Dennis and Ova L Patterson was married May the 25 1899". (Ova is the niece of Hattie.)
I have a copy of a photograph of Tutt and Hattie that was probably taken shortly after their marriage. Also a copy of a photo of Tutt, Ova and the four oldest children taken about 1901.
Tutt and Hattie moved to Texas before the birth of their children. After Hattie's death in 1898 he moved back to TN with his three young children where he married his wife's niece Ova. They moved to Tx in 1900 where Clura Judson was born. They then moved back to TN by 1907 where they remained.

Emma H. Patterson is listed as 7 born in TN. with parents James and Eliza W. Patterson in the 1880 Clay Co. TN census.
Hattie was only 26 years old when she died. She is buried in the Keenan Cemetery, Farmers Branch, Dallas Co. Tx. She died in child birth with her 4th child Matilda who is buried in the same grave with Hattie. Her granddaughter, Nora Belle Dennis, is buried near her with one space between them. Virgie Ella Butler Barnett is buried in this space. Ella was the sister of Hallie Butler Dennis, Hattie's daughter-in-law. Ella has no marker on her grave but her daughters (Kate and Sarah Barnett) told me she is buried there. According to cemetery records, Hattie's grandson Jack is buried in the same plot as Nora Belle, his sister. Jack died at birth, his neck broken at delivery. Nora Belle died at age 3 of scarlet fever. Hattie in plot L-40, S-VI, Jack and Nora Belle L-42, S-VI. Ella would be in plot 41 of this section.
Source of birth, marriage and death copy of bible pages sent to me by Inis Dennis Watson and Hattie's tombstone which contains her birth and death dates.
She is buried in the Keenan Cemetery, Farmers Branch, Dallas Co. Tx. in the grave with her mother.
Magnola may have married Peyton Smith according to Mattie Hogan Hicks Patterson research. Magnola may be the Nora in her research.
