Christopher Needham, landed in Maryland, from England in 1651 and received
a land grant of 1,000 acres, for transporting himself and wife, Edward and
Thomas, his sons, and six servants, from England to this country.
Christopher
Needham purchased land in Elizabeth City County, Va., now the city of
Hampton
Va. and died circa 1676. (From "The Early Settlers of Maryland", and
"Wills
and Administrations of Elizabeth City Co., Va.) Compiled by Bird Needham
(Mrs.

mean that she must have shown the connection between Christopher NEEDHAM
and the 'old world.' She was also a member of the "Colonial Order of the

which is reserved for descendants of the Emperor Charlemagne (742-814).
--Letter from the "National Society Magna Charta Dames" claims Christopher
to be the grandson of Thomas NEEDHAM, 6th Viscount Kilmorey, born about
1659. Thomas was the son of Charles NEEDHAM 4th Viscount Kilmorey, who
died in1660. The lineage of this family can be traced back to 1102.
However,
forthis connection to work that would mean Christopher owned land in
Virginia
(1643) before his grandfather, Thomas, was born in England (1659).
-- The Christopher mentioned by the "Magna Charta Dames" may possible be
Christopher, b.1704, whose father and grandfather were both named Thomas.
If this is true, Thomas Sr., grandfather of Christopher, b. 1704, would
be Thomas
NEEDHAM, 6thViscount Kilmorey and Charles NEEDHAM, 4th Viscount Kilmorey,
would be ThomasSr's grandfather. However, this would make Charles
NEEDHAM, 4th Viscount Kilmorey, the father of Thomas Sr, and not
Christopher,
b. 1595. Since Christopher, b. 1595, has been documented as Thomas Sr.'s
father, the theory of a connection to Charles NEEDHAM is flawed. S.A.
