Thomas Smith was born abt 1720 in Virginia and died aft 1797 inRockingham County, NC. I have been unable to locate the wife of Thomas, but have found some of his children. Drury Smith was one of two sons Ihave found so far(1745-06/29/1822). He died in Rockingham County at theage of 76. He married twice. First wife was Elinor "Nellie" Grogan.Second wife was Betsie Vaughn; married in 1766. Drury's son, Daniel wasborn abt 1774 and died 1856 at the age of 82. He married Mary PollyEdwards and had 11 children that I have found so far. I do not know as ofyet where these men are buried. However, I do know where they lived.Drury purchased land along Pawpaw Creek. This creek's origins start nearthe VA/NC state line and runs southwest to Mayo River. There is a SmithRoad that runs off of Highway 220 about 4 miles north of Stoneville. Thisroad crosses Pawpaw Creek. Smith Road runs into Anglin Mill Road whichwill take you to the VA state line. My guess is that they are buriedeither in an old church cemetery in this area or they had a familycemetery on the land. Best Of Luck, Carol Neal
