In the name of God, Amen. I RalphMcGee of the County of Sussex being
weak of the body but of sound mind and memory thanks be to Almighty God
for the same do make & ordain this my last Will & Testament in manner &
form Following: Imprimis - The use of the plantation whereon I now dwell
with all the lands here unto belonging, I leave unto myloving Wife Ann
McGee as also three Negro's Namely Fillis Lucy & Milly and my personal
estate of what Nature or kind so ever during her natural life & after her
death I give and Devise My said estate as hereafter directed.
Item -I give & bequeath to my son Robert McGee one Negro Girl named
Annica to him& his heirs forever.
Item - I give & bequeath to my son Drury Magee one negrogirl named
Dafney to him & his heirs forever.
Item - I give & bequeath to myson William Magee providing he sould not
marry Martha Gilliam, Widow of Charles Gilliam Dec'd, one negro girl
named Hannah, one bed & furniture & one cow& calf to him & his heirs
forever.
Item - I give & bequeath to my son RalphMagee one Negro girl named
Milley, one bed & furniture & one cow & calf to him & his heirs forever.
Item - I give & bequeath unto my son Willey Magee oneNegro Wench named
Lucy, one bed & furniture, One cow & calf & the plantationI now dwell on
containing one hundred & eighty five acres be the same more orless to
him & his heirs forever.
Item - I give & bequeath unto my son JamesMagee one negro Boy named Sam,
one bed & furniture, one cow & calf to him &his heirs forever.
Item - I give & bequeath unto my Daughter Ann Andrews onenegro Boy named
Frank to her & her heirs forever.
Item - I give & bequeath unto my Daughter Sarah Gilliam one Negro Boy
named Randolph to her & her heirsforever.
Item - I give & bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth McGee one bed &
furniture & one chest to her & her heirs forever.
Item - I give & bequeath unto my Daughter Martha Ashley ten pounds
current money.
Item - I give & bequeath unto my son David McGee five shillings current
money
Item - I give & bequeath unto my son John McGee five shillings current
money.
Item - I give &bequeath unto my Grand Children here after named Mary
Hines, David McGee sonof David, Cary McGee son of John McGee one negro
Wench named Fillis to them &their heirs forever.
Item - It is my will and desire that after the death ofmy Wife Ann McGee
all the remainder part of my Estate may be equally dividedbetween my
Children hereafter named Robert, Drury, William, Ralph, James & Elizabeth
McGee Also Sarah McGee Ann Andrews Martha Ashley to them & their heirs
forever.
Item - I do constitute & appoint my loving wife Ann McGee & Jesse
Williamson my hole & sole executors to this my last Will & Testament
revoking & disannul every Will here to fore made by me ??ttisf?ing &
confirming this and no other to be my last will & testament. In witness
whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this nineteenth Day of May

David owned land on Beaver Creek in Wilkes Co N. C.

1   David McGee, Rev. War soldier who served at Valley Forge, is buried in
Tuscal oosa Co. Al by three of his six wives on the old Tannenhill farm.

Text: The Last Will and Testament of David McGee
In the Name of God Amen: This Sixteenth Day of February In the Year of
our Lord one Thousand Eight hundred and Eight I David Megee of the County
of Wilkes and State of North Carolina Calling to mind the mortality of my
Body, but being in health and perfect memory and knowing that it is
appointed for all men once to Dye, my Soul I give unto the hand of God
who gave it me also my Body to the Earth from whence I was Taken to be
Buried in a Desant manner at the Descression of my Executors here after
mentioned-------------- Andas for my Worldly Goods where with it hath
pleased God to bless me I give anddispose of in manner and form
following that is to Say first as for my Children to wit David Megee my
Eldest son Drury Megee Ann Megee Mary Megee I havegiven them already by
Equal Division What I think Requisite for them Except ten Shillings to
Each of them out of my Estate here after to be divided and Secondly as
for my Son William Megee Ralph Megee John Megee James Megee and Nancy
Land Sarah Coffey Patsey Allison I have also given them already their
Equal portions Except the above mentioned Sum of ten Shillings to Each
one of them out of my Estate hereafter to be divided as foresaid, Thirdly
I give andbequeath to my beloved Daughter Elizabeth Megee one bay Mare
and Colt one Cowand Calf one bed and furniture, and I also give and
bequeath to my beloved Daughter Eded Megee one young Sorrel mare one Cow
and Calf one bed and furniture, I also give and bequeath unto Synthy
Megee the old black Mare and her Colt one Cow and her Calf one Bed and
furniture, and I also give and bequeath unto my beloved Son Bleuford
Megee one Sorrel Mare with a blazed face one Cow and Calf one Bed and its
furniture but it is to be hereby observed that the said Bleuford Megee my
son Shall give or pay out of his shares of my Estate theJust Sum of
twenty pounds lawful Money to be paid to my Grand Son William Ryly Megee
at or on the Day of his arrival at the age of Eighteen years--------- and
as for George Megee my youngest son I give and grant unto him my said son
a part or parcel of Land Containing one hundred and ten acres including
the dwelling House where in I now dwell with the plantation and Grist
Mill. Beginning at a Chestnut on the top of the low mountain Runing with
a conditional line made between me and my Said Son Bleuford Megee to the
Spring branch thence up to the Various Corses of said Branch to the north
and south line thence south with said line to a conditional line made
between me and my son John Megee thence west with said conditional line
to a Corner on the pounding Mill branch then north to the
Beginning------- Together with every Right Titlepriviledge and
improvements to the said Land belonging or aappertaining to him the said
George Megee his heirs and assigns forever, and I also give and bequeath
unto my said Son George Megee the gray horse and my young black Mare also
one Cow and Calf and one bed and furniture, I also give unto my Grand
Daughter Eded Allison the Just Sum of ten pounds Lawful money to be to
her outof the division of my Estate hereafter to be mentioned at or on
the Day of her arrival at the age of Fourteen Years And as for the
Remaining part of my Estate at and after my Decease I here by give and
desire to be Equally Dividedbetween the following part of my Sons and
Daughters (Except the above mentioned Sum of ten pounds to be paid to my
Grand Daughter Eded Allison as aforesaid) to wit Susannah Hagler
Elizabeth Megee Eded Megee Bleuford Megee Cynthy Megee and George Megee,
All which Leagases So Divided Thereby Give and bequeath to Each and Every
of the aforesaid of my Sons


David S. Junior MCGEE

David (the younger) was a private in the Virginia line and was on the mustr roll at Valley Forge. he apparently rose to the rank of Sergent. After the war, he left VA , went to SC, TN, and settled in Alabama in 1819. He was in TN for sometime as perhaps 5 of his 15 children are listed as born there.

"David McGee was a Revolutionary War soldier, serving in the infantry
from Virginia...David served as a private in Nathan Reid's Company, 14
and 10 Virginia Regiment. Muster rolls show he enlisted 1 September 1777
and was last mentioned November 1779. According to family tradition, he
served under George Washington. Muster rolls for March, April, and May
1778 place David McGee at Valley Forge."
"Moved from Virginia to (North Carolina?) South Carolina, then to
Tennessee and finally settled in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama in 1819. He
settled in the North River area of Tuscaloosa County....Hisland included
Section 6, Twp 205, Range 9W for 79 acres purchased 15 Nov 1830.
Purchases of land were made from the US Government in 1824, 1834, and
1852....He is mentioned as having purchased a slave from his deceased
wife's heirs in a Greene County record dated 17 November 1823. The
property is now part of the Monroe Sexton farm joining Lake Tuscaloosa."
"David McGee is purported to have had 6 wives so the mothers of the
children listed above are not known....He married his sixth wife,
Margaret Finch (widow) 2 August 1832 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. Later
2 of his sons married 2 of her daughters. SonWiley married second Nancy
Jones. David McGee is buried in the family cemetery on his farm, close to
North River along with several of his wives, his sonSampson, and his
wife Mary, and several other relatives."

David McGee (1762-1857)..."A marker was dedicated in Capitol Park in
Tuscaloosa, AL on 11 Apr 1972 by Tuscaloosa Chap, DAR, in honor of 17 Rev
Soldiers burined in Tuscaloosa County. David McGee's name is listed."
From "The McGees ofNorth River" (p. 1). Since David Jr. enlisted in the
infantry in the Revolutionary War on September 1, 1877, in Rockbridge
County, Virginia (DAR Application #345639) it is likely that his family
lived in Virginia...

Text: His obituary in the Tuscaloosa Monitor
on August 27, 1857:
David McGee. ANOTHER REVOLUTIONARY SOLDIER GONE. Died -- At his residence
in thiscounty, on Friday the 7th inst., David McGee, aged 94 years and
15 days. Heserved in the latter part of the Revolutionary War, and was
one of the earlysettlers in Tennessee, whence he removed to this county
in 1817, and has resided here ever since. Thus rapidly is passing away
that noble band of patriots, who achieved our independence against such
fearful odds, and amid such dreadful privations. The widow whom he leaves
behind to mourn his death was his sixth wife. He lies vuried by the side
of three of his wives. Peace be to hisashes. Communicated. His body was
interred Tuscaloosa Co., Ala.
