Farmer at Siloam in 1860.......joined the service 27 Mar 1862 at Flat Shoal in Surry and was sworn in at Camp Mangum, Raleigh, NC 30 Apr 1862.  He was in a Petersburg Hospital 1 Jul 1862 and out on 14 Jul.  Suffered a wound at Gettysburg 1 Jul 1963 and was taken prisoner.  He was a POW at Fort Delaware, DEL, where he took the Oath of Allegiance 19 Jun 1865.  Description: Fair complexion, light hair, blue eyes, 5' 6" tall
