Gabriel DENNY

He volunteered at Flat Shoal in Aurry 17 Apr 1862 and wad mustered in 30 Apr 1862 at Camp Mangum, Raleigh, NC He was listed a s absent on sick furlough and was discharged 1 Feb 1863 for disability.  The reason given was that he had been unfit for duty for 60 days..  After the War, he was a miller farmer and a pastor of the Ararat (Cedar Hill) Primitive Baptist Ch. over 50 years..Donated the land for the church cemetery, which was originally owned by Azariah Denny..

Jonathan E FLINCHUM

Recruited at age 27, he entered service with his brohter, Gideon and James, and was listed as absent around Drewry's Bluff 19 Oct 1862 but was listed as presesnt though sick at Kinston 17 May 1863.  In Nov-Dec 1863 he was present and was court-martialed Jan-Feb 1864 and confined 1 Dec 1864.


Elizabeth Betty DENNY

As a widow, moved with all her children to Moore Co. NC, about 1918 in wagons taking about 3 days...


Martin FLINCHUM

farmers of the Pilot Mtn. area of Surry, NC.


James E FLINCHUM

Was recruited and joined the service with his brothers, Jonathan and Gideon, 1 Sep 1862.  He was listed as absent from drewry's Bluff 19 Oct 1862, yet his name appears on sick list at Kinston Mar-Apr 1863.  Taken prisoner 25 Mar 1865, he was a POW at Point Lookout, MC.  He took the Oath of Allegiance 26 Jun 1865.


Gideon FLINCHUM

Was recruited and joined the service with his brothers, Jonathan and James, on 1 Sep 1862 when he was 22..  He died 1 Nov 1862, place and reason unknown...
