Jennie GoodrichMcConkie 5/6/1912 ~ 6/13/2003 Jennie Goodrich McConkie was born May 6, 1912, in Vernal, Utah, to Parley Herbert Goodrich and Viva Matilda Hunting. She passed away in Bountiful, Utah, June 13, 2003. Jennie was the fifth child of seven and the only girl. She grew up in Tridell, UT and married Reed Smoot McConkie Feb 9, 1931. He preceded her in death, 1987. Jennie served as the Postmaster of the Tridell Post Office for 35 years, retiring in 1964. Jennie and her family moved to Salt Lake City in 1966 so they could be close to the temple and the genealogical library. She was an active member of the LDS church and served faithfully in all of her callings, some of which were in the MIA as secretary to the Young Women for 28 years, ward music director, drama director, and speech director; was involved in Golden Gleaners and was the Improvement Era director for 19 years. Among the many loves of her life were her husband and family, her belief in God and Jesus Christ, family history work and music. She was an accomplished and self-taught pianist. Jennie is survived by her brother, Rae H. (Ruth) Goodrich, Tridell, UT; six children, Jennis (Grant) Betts, Independence, UT, Ila Rhae (Russel) Gingell, Myton, UT, Vivian (Keith) Winterton (Toronto, Ontario Canada-Mission), Pauline (Victor-deceased) Derhak, Taylorsville, UT, Dannie (Charlene) McConkie, Bountiful, UT, Rick (Evelyn) McConkie, West Valley City, UT; 48 grandchildren; 158 great-grandchildren; and 46 great great-grandchildren. As the matriarch of her family she was always the proper example giving service and encouragement to family members in the pursuit of happiness. Mom, we love you. You will be missed by your family and all who knew you. A viewing will be Mon. June 16, 2003, 6:30-8 p.m. Deseret Mortuary, 36 E. 700 S, Salt Lake City, UT. Services will be 11 a.m. Tues. June 17, 2003 Orchard First Ward LDS Chapel, 3707 S. 800 W, Bountiful, UT where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 S. 200 W, Bountiful, UT. Our sincere and heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Life Care Center in Bountiful for their loving and tender care of our dear mother during her stay there.
