Borrowman, John
Borup, Peter, junior, Bishop of the Eureka Ward (Tintic Stake), Juabcounty, Utah, was born Nov. 15, 1869, at Goshen, Utah county, Utah, theson of Peter Borup and Christine Christensen. He removed with his parentsto Panguitch in 1878, where he was baptized by Bishop J. C. Davis whennine years old. He received considerable schooling in Goshen andPanguitch. His father died in October, 1878, in Panguitch, after whichPeter returned to Goshen, where he resided until 1885, when he located inEureka. In 1897 (May 12th) he married Laura Mattinson, who has borne himfive children, namely, Leta L., Klea Louise, Carl M., Fern and Helen. Heworked as an engineer for the Bullion Beck Mining Co, for fifteen years.Bro. Borup's first office in the Priesthood was that of a Deacon;afterwards he was ordained an Elder and filled a mission to Norway in1906-1908, laboring in the Bergen conference, part of the time aspresident of the same. Before going on his mission he acted as secondcounselor in the Eureka Ward Y. M. M. I. A. In 1908 (Aug. 30th), soonafter his return from his mission, he was ordained a High Priest byRudger Clawson and set apart to preside over the Eureka Ward, whichposition he still holds. Bishop Borup has taken an active part also insecular affairs and now acts as a member and treasurer of the CarnegieLibrary Board of Eureka.---------------
