Nicholas RANDALL

 Nicholas occupation was farming.  He took the oath of fidelity to the State and freemen's oath 9 sep 1777.  He was called sergeant in the Connecticut  Militia in 1778 (Rev. War).  He was chosen selectman of Voluntown for many years, serving from 1795 to 1804.  Was chosen a member of the school committee in 1796, 1797, and in 1801 and 1802 was a lister (Assessor).
July 11, 1803 he, with James Alexander, was chosen agent to attend with a committee appointed by the General Assembly for determining a place for holding the Superior and County Court in the county of Windham and to uses thier influence to have the place fixed at Brooklyn.--Extract Voluntown Recors.

In 1805 he disposed of his lands in Voluntown and vemoved to Bridgewater, NY, wher he died in 1814..
Temple work is done on this family.  sealed 21 Apr 1921 and again on 2 May 1961..  The baptism and endowment work was done in 1890, 1895, 1897, and 1898.


Content PHILLIPS

The ancestry of Content Phillips has been found in Preston, CT (which borders on Stonington and Voluntown, home of the Randalls)  According to the records of the First Congregational Church of Griswold (formerly North Preston), CT, Vol. l, p. 30, she was baptized 19 Jun 1757 (baptized usually referred to a christened), a daughter of Jonathan Phillips and Jeneverth Branch.
 Research is being undertaken on these lines, and is proving fruitful, but the family graoops are not all complete yet.
