Daughter of John H. and Hannah T. Harper was born near Brookville, Indiana,
February 26, 1873.
On August 1, 1891 she was united in marriage to William Lightfoot and their
married life began in Grant County, Indiana and twenty-two years were spent
there.
The Union was blessed with four children, one dying in infancy while the
three with their father survive the mother.
In 1913 the family moved to Redwood County, Minnesota and this has since
been their home.
Mrs. Lightfoot was a devoted wife, a very thoughtful mother and most
helpful neighbor. She enjoyed work, and was always sunny and cheery even when
poor health was maring her happiness.
Early in life she gave her heart to God and became a member of the
Methodist church and after coming to this county transferred her membership to
the New Avon Church where she was faithfully served her Lord, and labored for
the best interests of her home and community.
Mrs. Lightfoot has been in failing health for some time, and last Wednesday
evening she very quietly slipped into that Eternal home where she will forever
be with her Lord.
Besides the husband the following children remain: two sons, Leon of Vesta,
Dale of Olivia and one daughter, Mrs. Vera Roush of Redwood Falls. there are
six grandchildren, her one brother and one sister have both preceded her in
death. A multitude of good friends keenly feel her absence, but we sorrow not
as those who have no hope, but take comfort as we remember her good life.Mother Has Fallen Asleep
Mother was tired and weary,
Weary with toil and with pain
Put by her glasses and rocker,
She will not need them again,
Into Heaven's mansions she entered,
Never to sigh or to weep
After long years of life's struggles,
Mother has fallen asleep.Rest the tired now forever,
Dear wrinkled hands are so still,
Blasts of earth shall no longer
Throw o'er our loved one a chill.
Angels thru Heaven will guide her,
Jesus will still bless and keep
Not for the world would we wake her.
Mother has fallen asleep.Beautiful rest for the weary
Well deserved rest for the true,
When our life's journey is ended,
We shall again be with you.
This helps quiet our weeping,
Hark! Angel music so sweet
He giveth to His beloved,
Beautiful, beautiful sleep.
