Each of us knew my brother  in a special and unique way.  I was blessed to know him from the beginning.

When growing up he was always smaller then the other boys, that’s because God decided he needed a early start in life, about 2 ư  months early.  His  first bed was my fathers boot box.   As a toddler and young boy he was tiny  and had short cropped hair, squinting eyes and the most infectious smile on earth.  He was blessed with a vivid imagination .  When he was about 5 he played wrecking yard , he happily took  his Dad’s hammer and smashed all the little metal cars (the hot wheels of the 40’s) but when the game was over he wanted all his cars back  to their original condition .

In  his teen years he was Joe cool, he wore his collars up like Elvis, Levis with cuffs tucked under and a duck tail haircut.  The girls thought he was so handsome!  At the time I thought they had no idea of what handsome was.   It was about that time that he started developing his love for mechanics, and wood working.  His first wood project was a pig cutting board, sound familiar to any of you?  But his next project was a  chest of drawers.  It was made of  Oak and was beautiful.  He was so proud of that piece of furniture.

That  began his love affair with wood, his talent was a tribute to the love, and respect for his craft. Doing something with his hammer signature, was always a work of both quality and beauty.  Some thought  he was a perfectionist, he was an artist trying to reflect  the beauty that he was seeing in his minds eye.  This was the inner beauty of  Chris he could see the inner beauty of many things not just  wood, glass, or paint.

He was a veteran,  He served with the Army and was stationed in Korea and operated heavy equipment.  It was good training , but his love was creating things with his hands, Chris  soon knew he needed to follow that course.

Almost everyone who was touched by him has a gift or a project either made by him or with him.   These special projects are now Our private treasures forever.

Through the years he added or fixed something in most of  our homes, I remember us all rushing to finish  our basement before the wedding reception for our oldest son.  It was a time of precious memories for all of us.

Chris has many titles, he was a husband,  son,  father,  grandfather,  brother, uncle, nephew and friend.  But he was also a teacher, he loved to share the knowledge .   He was supportive and patient with people and  he loved life.

Our Father , brought  him into the world early , he took him home before we were ready to see him leave.

Close your eyes just a moment, imagine the wonder he is seeing ! He  is with the first  Carpenter-Our Lord !  They are building mansions in heaven for all of us.  We  have to send  the materials to build  these mansions.  We can do this by our love, respect and  prayers .

When  you pick up a hammer or start some little project think of  him and smile.  He would like that.

I love my brother very much, God loves him more .  Until  we are together again.
