In l950, John J. Hiatt, a grandson, wrote: “Don’t have date when grandfather and family left Indiana and went to Iowa. Came from Iowa to Kansas in 1879; father went to Oklahoma l903; we came to Wichita (Kansas). in l918.” (R137).

I am still working away with my HIATTS Sharon Mills and I have exchanged a lot so that is wonderful as we come from the same line that is her husband and I.  I found some more HIATT'S in Harper, Kansas, Harper Twp., 1880 yesterday as follows (Was wondering who they belong to?)

Just happened to think I have a Harper Co., Cemetery book, Harper Kansas and I foiund three HIATTS buried in it as follows:

HIATT, Charles  Lot 219  Sec 1,  owner's name  Charles HIATT born 11/11/1868  died 10/27/1877  age 9

HIATT, Newton B.  Lot 219, sec. 1, owners name, Charles HIATT (no age)
HIATT, Sarah      Lot 219, sec. 1, owners name, Charles HIATT age 52 years, 11 months and 12 days.

    My note:  By the 1880's census Sarah was 46 in 1880, so the Cem. record could be wrong s this age is 52.  I wonder why Newton wasn't listed with Sarah.  Charles was the owner of the lots prob. a brother of such of Newton and had a son named after him.  Charles as this Charles was only 9 when he died.  Intersting huh?  We will get this solved. A lso I belong to the Harper Co., Soc. as my father then his father were born there and see what other Cemetery records are available through them or someone.  Janis
