Warren D. Mann died at the age of 92, at the Goodman Nursing Home, in
Yorktown, Ind.  From his obituary - he came to Indiana at the age of six and
lived the remainder of his life in and around the Muncie/Redkey area.  He was
married for 68 years.
The newspaper obituary clippings had no date written on them to indicated
the month and day that Mary and Warren died.

Lewis Earl CONYERS

S/o Alpheus W. Conyers and Martha A. Starbuck.   The grandparents of Lewis - Ishmael and Mary (Mills) Conyers - were early pioneers of the state of Indiana.  The biography of Ishmael is written in the History of Randolph
County, Ind. by E. Tucker, 1881. The biography of Mr. Conyers' father,
Alpheus, is given in A Portrait and Biographical Record of Delaware And
Randolph Counties, Ind. 1894.
Thee marriage application indicates that both Lewis and Emma were residing in Farmland, Randolph County, Ind.  Lewis was a teamster by occupation and apparently worked for his father's shipping business hauling hay.  His father was the leading dealer in hay at Farmland, buying and shipping hay, handling about 235 carloads in 1894 - each load averaging  11 tons. They would buy the hay, then bale and ship it.
According to family members, Emma and Lewis were known to have lived at
Buena Vista, southeast of Farmland in White River Township (now Union Twp.) and at Royston, west of Farmland in Monroe Township, in their early married years.  Both the towns and houses at these locations no longer exist.
In about 1902 the family moved to Muncie, Delaware County, Ind. where Lewis was an employee of the American Rolling Mill.
Prior to 1905 they returned to Randolph County, Ind. and settled at Parker City.  At this time Lewis was employeed as an oil worker out in the fields operating the pumps.  Gas and oil had been discovered at Parker just a short time earlier, and also near this community, therefore, it is assumed that the oil fields were those at this location.
The birth record of Esther indicates that she was born in Delaware County, Ind.  while that of Paul Earl was located in Randolph County, Ind. It is not known if the family moved during this time, or Esther was just born in the neighboring county (Parker is located very close to the county line.)
Lewis and Emma moved permanently to Muncie, Delaware County, Ind., around
1912 and were listed in Emerson's Muncie.  Directory 1913-1914, as living on
East First Street.  Lewis was employed as a machinist at Warner Gear Company
of Muncie.
At some period the family moveed to Whitely, a suburb of Muncie, were
Lewis died at the age of 44 in his home after an extended illness.  He was a
prominent member of the Farmland Lodge, No. 308 F. & A. M.
Following her husband's death, Emma worked to support the family.  She is known to have been employeed at the Ball Memorial Hospital cafeteria for many years; the Muncie YMCA cafeteria, and a local funeral home.
On October 31, 1948, Emma was recived by confession of faith into the
membership of the Jackson Street Christian Church of Muncie, Ind.  (now
Hazelwood Christian Church, Disciples of Christ).
Emma would occassionally visit her brother Arlem in Troy, Ohio, in her
later years and stay with him for a few months.  Also, around the late 1950's
and early 1960's she lived for a time at Losantville, Randolph Co., Ind.  She
was finally confined to the Bethel Nursing Home of Muncie, Ind., where she died after having lived her entire life in Randolph and Delaware Co., Ind.
According to accounts given by her children, Emma had such a personality
that made her very likeable to all who meet her.  She was a very dedicated
Christian woman who took great pride and interest in her childdren and
grandchildren.
The tombstone of Lewis and Emma contains an error regarding the death date of Lewis.  The stone gives the date 1916 but the death record and newspaper obituary have proven this to be incorrect.  The error is due in part to the fact that the stone was put in place long after his death, in the latter 1970's.
