Carroll Dwight Hiatt was born the 27th of December, 1913 at Truro, Iowa,
the second son of Elijah Wayne Hiatt and Jessie Barber. the family moved to
Hereford, Colo where he started school in 1918, returning to Truro in 1919,
then moving to California in 1921, where he graduated from Glendale High School in 1932. The family moved back to Truro in 1932. He played baseball and basketball on the Truro town teams, worked as assistant postmaster, and clerk for Heyl Drugstore. He was then employed by Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America as clerk.
On August 23, 1940 Dwight was married to Helen Louise Murphy at the
Christian Church parsonage. Helen was born November 25, 1917to Elmer Boyd and Florence (Floss) Farson Murphy. Helen attended all 12 grades in the Truro school, graduating in 1934. She worked as telephone operator for five years in the Truro Telephone Office.
Dwight was transferred to the Red Oak N.G.P.L. Office in the spring of 1941.
Dennis Dwight was born there the 18th of September, 1942. In OCtober 1943, Dwight joined the Navy becoming a radio operator and finally being stationed at Cheltenham Naval Radio Base outside Washington D.C. he was honorably discharged in December, 1945 returning to work for N.G.P.L. as clerk in Red Oak, and then back to truro. Their daughter, Penny Louise, was born the 24th of April 1947, at the Osceola Hospital. Dwight was transferred back to Red Oak in 1948, as pipeline foreman and then in August 1950 he returned to Truro as N.G.P.L. foreman where he remained until disability retirement in 1976. He was with the company for 38 years.
Dennis Dwight Hiatt attended Truro High School, graduating in 1960. He
served in the Army for two years, spending a year in Germany. On September 9, 1965 he was married to Suzanne Marie Courtney of Lorimor, Iowa. They had two sons, Chet Tracy, and Wade Alan. Dennis works for Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company in Des Moines.
Penny Louise Hiatt attended the Truro Schools through eighth grade,
graduating from Interstate 35 High School in 1965. On July 31, 1965 she was
married to Eric Lynn Schaffer. They are the parents of Jody Louise and Ricklyn Raye.
