RYE COVE, Va. - James Canary Tipton, 68, entered into rest Tuesday (March 27, 2001) at his residence. Born March 30, 1933 in Scott County, Va., Mr. Tipton was a son of the late Harvey and Estle B. Tipton. He was a native of Scott County and retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation.Mr. Tipton was of the Baptist faith and a member of Bishop Memorial Freewill Baptist Church.Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Lee Tipton; sister, Lillie Mae Thacker; brothers, Ivan, Claude and Charlie Tipton.Surviving are his wife, Mary Rhoton Tipton, of the home, Rye Cove, Va.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry James and Rosemary Tipton, Ft. Blackmore, Va., Scotty Wayne and Tammy Tipton, Gate City, Va.; four grandchildren, Presley Tipton, April Tipton, Jamie Tipton and Libby Tipton; one brother, Ralph Tipton, Sullivan Gardens; four sisters, Phyllis Osborne, Dungannon, Va., Judy Pendleton, East Carters Valley, Pam Tipton France, Gate City, Va., and Joyce Dockery, East Carters Valley; several nieces and nephews and many close friends. Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Gate City Funeral Home in the Juanita S. Falin Chapel. Friends may pay their respects at the home.Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Gordon McBride, the Rev. Ray Dockery and the Rev. Willie Ashworth officiating.Music will be provided by the Moccasin Gap Quartet. Burial will follow the service at Rollins Cemetery, Rye Cove, Va.Pallbearers will be Dr. John Collins, Larry Jones, Merel Hass, Mike Jones, Brian Jones, Tony Bowen, John Bennett and Robert Gilliam.

Claude Lee Tipton obit Lived at Kingsport in 1976. KINGSPORT - Charlie Ray Tipton, 60, Gravely Road, passed away Tuesday (Oct. 3, 2000) at Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Scott County on Dec. 16, 1939, he was the son of the late James Harvey and Lillie Estell Bishop Tipton. He was a retired engineer with Rail Link Railroad.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lillie Mae Thacker; two brothers, Claude Lee Tipton and Ivan Eugene Tipton. Surviving are his wife, Ginger Lea Mellons Tipton, of the home; daughters, Kwan Tipton, Kingsport and Reva Tipton, Clinchport, Va.; sons, Bobby Ray Tipton and wife Linda, Richmond Hill, Ga., Brian Ray Tipton and Brett Ryan Tipton, all of the home; grandchildren, Chris Tipton, Matt Tipton, Austin Tipton and Dustin Robinson; sisters, Phyllis Osborne, Dungannon, Va., Mrs. Wayne (Judy) Pendleton, Mrs. Jimmy (Joyce) Dockery and Pam France, all of Gate City, Va.; brothers, James Tipton and wife Mary, Rye Cove, Va., and Ralph Tipton, Sullivan Gardens; and several nieces and nephews.Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, Va., and other times at the residence. Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Kenny Adams and Evangelist Rick Bowser offiiating.Music will be provided by Donna Light, Susie Kerney and Denise Whooten. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Rollins Cemetery (Rye Cove community).Pallbearers will be Johnny Ketron, Mark Ketron, Greg Harvey, Kenny Young, Brad Cole and Dustin Manis. The family will meet at the funeral home at noon to go in procession to the cemetery.
