Irvine-Clyde F. Cox, 47 died Saturday morning at the Veterans Administration Hospital,
Lexington.
He had been ill for several years. He was a native of Estill County, a Methodist and a member of the
Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Layhoma Henry Cox; four sons, Leonard and Frankie Cox, Ohio, and
Londis Franklin and Otis Wayne Cox, Ravenna; his mother, Mrs. Carrie Cox, Irvine; four sisters,
Mrs. Gertrude Hickman; Mrs. Carlie Woolery and Beatrice Walling all of Irvine, and Mrs. Lillian
Washabaugh, Middletown Ohio, and a brother Londis Cox, Dayton, Ohio.
Services will be conducted at 2p.m. Monday at the First Christan Church by Rev. Ben Wells.
Burial will be in the West Irvine Cemetery. The body is at the Lewis Funeral Home.

Clude Cox served in the U. S. Army during W W II, in the Hawiian Islands area where he suffered
from a collapsed lung. He was discharged following W W II  and later enlisted in the U.S. A. F. After his discharge from the U.S. A. F. Complications from his collapsed lung resulted in many operations and extend stays in the Veterans Hospital mostly at Dawon Springs, Kentucky during the rest of his life. He
died peacefully in his sleep june 5 1965.
Most people considered Clyde an Alocoholic, and while he did have periodic binges he also was sober
for many months at a time. He served as a deputy Sheriff of Estill County, and also ran unsuccessfully
for County Jailer, but most of his time spent as a Cab Driver at Irvine Kentucky.
