Jacob came to America from England at the age of 14 or 15, He was graduated from University of Uth and took graduate work at Columbia and Stanford University. He taught for some time at Branch Agricultural College, Ceder City and joined the University of Utah faculty about 1900.
    He left the Faculty in 1920 and moved to Palo Alto  in 1921. He servedas a member of the Santa Clara County Assessor's Staff in Palo Alto about 10 years, retiring in 1938.
