Thomas was an English Gentleman.
Mr Tipton was very despondent after the death of his wife and converted all of his property into cash-some $100,000, which was a considerable sum even in those days. After visiting several places and countries of Europe he sail to America. Its is assumed that he visited in Amsterdam, Holland before going to America, for it was in Amsterdam that his wife's father was a merchant Banker. She had been sent to London, England to be Educated in a girls school there. So it was in London they were married. "They were said to be the most handsome couple ever to be married in the Catherdral."
He left England in April 1837 and landed in New York; then went to Cincinnati,Ohio. He wrote one letter from New York and later sent a newspaper from Cincinnati which had a marked column which stated that he was taking a steamer load of mules to New Orleans, Louisiana for Sale. That was the last that was ever heard of him.
She was sent to London England to be educated in a girls school.
He is said th have gone to the West Indies with the Army and married there.
