John McGuire (1750-1800) served with the Virginia troops on the expedition to Canada and was taken prisoner at Quebec, 1775. He was with Captain Grayson's regiment 1777, and same year wounded at Germantown. He was born in Winchester, Va., died in Steubenville, Ohio.


Jonathan TIPTON

He married to Elizabeth FORD the 19th of May 1772 at Baltimore. He enlisted in the Revolution in 1775 and served 27 months. He left Maryland ca 1795 and moved to East Tennessee where he resided only a short time. He was granted 1,000 acres of land on the Cumberland River - he built a double log cabin. Elizabeth probably died before 1820 and it is believed Jonathan's son James TIPTON resided at the homestead and cared for him. Jonathan applied for a pension the 25th of Sept 1832 in Wilson Co., TN - he was 79 years old. There is a tradition that when Jonathan was 90 years old he walked the 17 miles to Lebanon to pick up his pension - he died in 1848.

Besides the two boys, Bryant and his first wife also had three daughters, the first being born about 1778. He also had two daugters by an unknown second wife. No children are known by his third wife Anna.
