William Lewis # 11-399

William Lewis was one of the first settlers of Farmington in 1644, wherehe was very prominent.  He was the first recorder, the first confirmedLieut. and later Capt. of militia.  His house was burned by the Indiansin 1657.

William Lewis # 12-797

He is said to have moved from  Wales to Stanstead, England with his wifeand son William in 1623.  He sailed from England in the ship "Lion" in1632.  He was a freeman in 1632.  He went with Hooker to Hartford in1635.   He was a juryman and a selectman in 1641.  Went to England in1649 to bring back his Sister, Mrs. Anna Stanes, whose husband had diedin America.   He moved to Hadley, Mass. where he joined the church in1657.  Representative to the General Court in 1665.  Moved to Farmingtonin 1671 after his wife's death.

John MUNN

Settled in Westfield.  He was in the Falls Fight where he lost a horse,saddle, and bridle.  In 1683 he asked aid of the General Court, statingthat "he is under a wasting sickness by reason of surfeit got at theFalls Fight and will decline into an incurable consumption".

Godfrey NIMS

From two sources of Nims descendants has come the tradition hat he was aFrench Huguenot.  According to tradition he was born in Nimes, Franceabout 1650, and first spelled his name Godefroi de Nismes, but changedthe spelling to fit the colonial pronunciation.  The first colonialrecord found of him is a court record of Northampton, Mass., 1667,indicating that he and two other boys ransacked houses while people wereat meeting on Sunday.   They took money with the intention of runningaway to the French.  The court judged that they should be whipped.  Nims,the leader, received fifteen lashes.  They were also ordered to returntriple the amount taken.  He took the oath of fidelity in 1672 or 1673.in Northampton.  He served in 1676 in the Falls Fight against thePocumluck Indians.  He afterwards settled in Deerfield where he becamethe owner of considerable property and an honored and respected citizen.He was a Constable in 1679. a selectman in 1691, 95 and 96.  He marriedMary Miller Williams, daughter of William Miller and widow of ZebediahWilliams.  His second wife was Mehitabel Smead Hull.  The householdconsisted of four sets of children.  In the Deerfield Massacre of 1704,only Thankful Nims was unharmed.  Godfrey's wife, Mehitabel was slain onthe trail March 4, 1704  Godfrey was also killed in this massacre.Administration on his estate was granted in April of 1705,

Benjamin MUNN

Benjamin Munn # 11-409
abt. 1625-1675

Soldier in the Pequot War.  Went to Hartford in 1639 and to Springfieldin 1649. He was fined there  "for taking tobacco on his haycock".  In1665 he was excused from military service because he was "weak andaged".  He was probably killed by Indians in November of 1675.
