It looks like she married about 1854-55 in Ohio when she was 18 or 19 years old. It appears that she is listed in the 1850 Oh census on page 136 Holmes Co Family no. 564 dew. no. 562 Springfield TWP with Samuel McBride river pilot, McBride children 14,10,4 an 4mos and Cathrine Tipton 15.
Jonathan was a farmer.
In 1820 census he was married and living in Coshocton Co. OH, (Oxford Twp) next door to Jacob Reed, probably his father-in-law. In 1830 census he was in Tuscarwas co. Oh (Salem Twp). In 1840 census he was in Holmes Co, OH. In 1850, he and most of his family were in Sullivan Co. MO.

These death records are not complete for the county, but do constitute the death records as they appeared in the Sullivan Standard and the Milan Republican. Often the dates given were vague, as "last week", "a few days ago", "sometime back", "recently" etc. If the exact date was not given, but a remark as "last Tuesday", "Sunday back", and similar expressions used, the date of the newspaper and a perpetual calendar were used to try to ascertain the exact date. The wording concerning these deaths is as it appears in the news item.
Sept. 10,1875. Jonathan Tipton Sr. died at his residence 6 miles southwest of this place (Milan) one day last week.
