Silas SMITH

Kirtland, OH:  Older children of Silas remained iin St. Lawrence Co., after their father's conversion to Mormonism and were obviously consulted in compiling the detailed genealogies ofthis book. Compare the quotation in this chapter refereced at the end of note 206. Which quotes a short LDS Archives document titled "Items pertaining to the biography of John SMITH, " and indicating that Asael contineud the cooper's trade in Tunbridge. Concerning the circumstances of Asaels in Vermont during 1805-6.  it says: "Silas married Ruth Stevens with the understanding that they were to live together with his father in the cooper's shop.{ As discussed in the text, this document is dated 1854, the year of John Smith's death, and collects information understood to be from John or his immediate family.
