Rachel was remember by her siblings as to her kindness and patience as an older sister and noted for her happy disposition and love of family. About 1885 accompanied her brother John to western Nebraska to home stead, Attending Church in sidney, Nebraska she met Lewis Hale, whom she married in 1886.They lived on a ranch near Sidney where their children were born. Later they moved to Fort Collin, Colorado where she died of diphtheria, Sept. 3, 1901. She was decribed as a devout Christian. Her obituary stated that she was a woman of strong mental endowment, always had an opinion of hereed but never obtrusive with it.
