"William "Bill" Baumgartner
"William "Bill" Baumgartner, 41, 2574 West Point Rd., died Friday, Jan. 28 1994 in his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

"He was born May 8, 1953 in Iron River, Michigan to Lois Baumgartner and the late Joe Baumgartner. On June 24, 1972, he married Chris Nyquist in Iron River, Michigan. He had been employed at Super Valu Warehouse for 22 years. Bill was a member of the St. Elizabeth Seton Parish.

"He and Chris were the original owners of MaMa's Ice Cream at 1231 S. Military and continued to operate the Postal Station at that location. Bill also enjoyed landscaping for TNT Landscaping Services.

"Survivors include his wife, Chris, three children, Dawn and her boyfriend Rich Dennis, BJ and Jason; his mother, Lois Baumgartner, Iron River, Mich., His brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Baumgartner, Iron River, Mich., a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Bruce Oehl, Milwaukee, Wis., nieces and nephews, his many special friends and his dog, Bubbay. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe, in Nov., 1993.

"The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. with Msgr. Ed Witczak officiating. The family is being assisted by the Blaney Funeral Home."

"Bill's family wishes to express their gratitude to the Nursing Staff on the Third Floor of St. Mary's Hospital and also to the staff at the West Side Clinic. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name."

"Elmer Neely
"Negaunee - Elmer Neely, 82, of 517 Lake St., died Friday afternoon in the Norwood Nursing Home, Escanaba, where he had been a patient for five weeks.

"Born April 25, 1890, in Negaunee, he was a lifelong resident. Mr.Neely, who served with the United States Army during World War I, retired in 1954 as a foreman for the former Independent Lumber Co. of Negaunee. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.

"Surviving are his widow, Marjorie; three sisters, Mrs. Isabelle Lehman of Berkley, Calif., Mrs. Olive Hansen of Bessemer and Mrs. Edwin (Bessie) Miler of Benton Harbor; two brothers, James Neely of Negaunee and Walter J. Neely of Ishpeming, and several nieces and nephews.

"Services will be held at 2 Tuesday afternoon in the Perala Funeralhome, Rev. Randall Mendelsohn Officiating. Burial will be in theNegaunee Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 until 9this evening."

"Negaunee - Mrs. Margery Neely, 82, of 517 Lake St., died Thursday evening in Norlite Rest Home, where she had been a patient three weeks.

"Born Dec. 12, 1890, in Negaunee, Mrs. Neely had been a lifelong resident of this city. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and the Golden Age Club. She attended Northern Michigan University and taught school here for several years.

"Her husband, Elmer, died last Friday.

"She is survived by two nephews, Ray Barney and Ray Neely, both of Negaunee.

"Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in St. John's Church with Rev. Randall Mendelsohn officiating. Burial will be in Negaunee Cemetery. Friends may call at the Perala Funeral Home from 3 until 9 p.m.Sunday. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Monday."

   Elmer Neely and Miss Margery Barney, well known Negaunee youngpeople, were united in marriage last Wednesday evening at St. John'sEpiscopal Church, the rector, Rev. Wm. C. Seitz, performing theceremony.  The couple were attended by Mr. and Mrs. James Neely.  Mr. andMrs. Neely left that night for the Mesaba range and after a visit of acouple of weeks they will begin housekeeping in a home in Heath streetthat awaits their occupancy.
   The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Neely, pioneer residentsof Negaunee, and he is in the employ of the Independent Lumber & CoalCompany.  Miss Barney's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Barney, made theirhome in Ishpeming for many years before taking up residence here about adozen years ago.  Since the completion of her education she had been ateacher in the Negaunee schools, latterly having an assignment to thejunior high school.

"Surviving are her parents. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Saturday afternoon from the Perala funeral home, and at 2 o'clock in St.John's Episcopal church, the Rev. E. A. Batchelder officiating. Burial will be made in the Negaunee cemetery."

"Funeral services for Joseph Amonino who died Sunday at St. Luke's Hospital will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St Paul's Catholic Church, Negaunee, with Rev. William Russell officiating.

"Mr. Amonino was born March 20, 1900 in Negaunee, and resided there until 1958 when he moved to Marquette.

"He was a member of St. Peter's Cathedral, and a past member and exalted ruler of the Negaunee Elks Lodge.

"Prior to his retirement in 1960 he was employed by the Cleveland-Cliffs iron Co.

"Mr. Amonino is survived by a sister, Mrs. Teresa LaFave, Marquette; three nieces, Mrs. Margaret Mary Lahti, Miles, Mrs. Herbert (Rita) Stoeri, Midland, and Jeanne Evon, Marquette; a nephew, Jerre Gaviglio, Adrian, and a cousin, Mrs. Lucy Dighera, Negaunee.

"Pallbearers will be John Dobson, Eugene Castello, Jack English, John Johns, Francis Dighera and Bruce Lahti.

"Friends may call at the Koskey Funeral Home after 4 p.m. today. Rosary will be recited at the home at 7 tonight. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery."

"Mrs. Joseph W. Amonino, 111 Cyr Street, the former Ruth Neely, died Thursday evening in St. Mary's hospital, Marquette, after a long illness. She was born April 17, 1900, in Negaunee and had been a lifelong resident here.

"She leaves her husband, her mother, Mrs. Bessie Neely; three brothers, James, Elmer and Walter J. Neely, Negaunee; four sisters, Mrs.Belle Lehman and Mrs. Roy Michelson, Hibbing, Minn., Mrs. Oscar Hanson, Bessemer, and Mrs. Edward Miller, Benton Harbor, and several nieces and nephews.

"Mrs. Amonino was a member of St. John's Episcopal church also the Altar guild and the Negaunee Lady Elks.

"The body was taken to the Koskey funeral home, where it will remain until services are held in St. John's Episcopal church Sunday afternoon with the Rev. John G. Carlton, of St. Paul's Episcopal church, Marquette, officiating.

"The pallbearers will be Liewlyn Price, Edward Ollila, Joseph Holman and Henry Bean, all of Negaunee, and George Sharkey, of Gwinn, and Thomas Richards, of Deer Lake.  Burial will be made in the family lot in Negaunee cemetery."

"Edwin J. Miller, 86, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Benton Harbor, died Saturday at Metropolitan Hospital, Grand Rapids. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St.Joseph, Wednesday at 10 a.m.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Fairplain Chapel, Florin Funeral Service, Benton Harbor, where liturgical prayers will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the Benton Harbor Exchange Club scholarship fund.

"Mr. Miller was born April 11, 1904, In Negaunee, Mich., and had resided in Grand Rapids for one year. He was a member of the Benton Harbor Exchange Club for 60 years. His wife, Bessie, preceded him in death in 1982.

"Survivors include: two sons - John P. of Grand Rapids and Richard J.of St. Joseph; one sister, Dorothy Miller of Marquette, Mich.; and seven grandchildren."

"Surviving are two sons, John of Grand Rapids and Richard of St. Joseph; a sister, Dorothy of Marquette; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers.

"Services were conducted in Benton Harbor and burial was in Calvary Cemetery there."
