Note from Lois Joan McGarry Rugolo:
"I am the daughter of James Lampshire. He really was a McGarry but his mother died when he was two years old and Mary Ann Blee and Thomas Henry Lampshire raised him. He married under the name Lampshire and we were all raised under that name. He needed his birth certificate when he worked during World War 2. He then had to change his name to McGarry because they never legally adopted him. The rest of our family remained Lampshires because my parents did not have the money to change it.
"My Grandmother was Jane Lampshire. She was the oldest of Thomas Henry's children. She married George McGarry in Escanaba in 1902. They had a son William that was born in 1902 but died in 1905. My father was born 29 Nov 1903 in Escanaba. There was also a little girl still born but have not been able to find any record of her. Jane died in April 1906 and George disappeared and they never saw him again.
"My Father married my mother, Ingrid Karlsson on 10 Dec 1932 in Ishpeming,MI. George McGarry was born in 1875 in New York City. I have not found his death. His parents were George McGarry and Sarah Bradley. I found this on their marriage certificate. He was listed as a fireman on the trains. I understand that he lost a leg and walked with a peg leg. My Dad told me that."
