Newspaper clipping: TRIBUTE TO EMERY HIETT PAID BY REV. JOHN HILLMAN:
“Men like Emery R. Hiett are not so plentiful, but that when they are taken from us there is a great vacancy in home and church, in social and business circles in our city life. And, one reason why Mr. Hiett is and will be missed so much is because his life was a life of service.“He held in fine balance his duties to the home and to the community. The fellowship of his wife and boys was his delight, and yet the call of the needs of the community could be heard by him even in the home circle. He was the friend and patron of everything that ministered to the soul of his city and made for the refinement and uplift of life. In the number of social, fraternal and business relationship, of which he formed a part, he greatly delighted, all the more in his everyday life the motto of the Rotary Club, ‘He profits most who serves best,’ And it was while he was on his way to one of these meetings that he was stricken.
“In many ways he showed his interest in the boys and the young men of the community. He was the companion of his own three sons, and has left to them an unusually rich heritage of fatherly sympathy and counsel, but he found a place in his own heart for other boys and young men.” (R112).
“TOLEDO (Ohio). DAILY BLADE, 6 June 1932: MRS. HIETT DIES AFTER ILLNESS - Widow of Emery R. Hiett Taken by Death at Age of 73. Ella Frances Hiett, widow of Emery R. Hiett, died Sunday evening at her home 2617 Parkwood avenue, after an illness of five weeks following an attack of influenza. She was in her 73rd year.
“Mrs. Hiett was a member of one of Toledo’s oldest families, her parents, John W. and Mary E. Hiett, having moved into their old home at Fifteenth street and Madison avenue at the close of the Civil war, after having lived in Maumee and Fremont, O., where their daughter was born June 15, 1859. She attended the Toledo public schools and was graduated from old Central high school and from Ohio Wesleyan university.
“On May 31, 1882, she was united in marriage to Emery R. Hiett of Sugar Grove, Ind. After two years spent on the farm near Mr. Hiett’s old home, they returned to Toledo, where Mr. Hiett engaged in the practice of Law and Later became the founder and first secretary and manager of the People’s Savings association.
“Mrs. Hiett followed in the footsteps of her parents as an active worker in St. Paul’s Methodist Episcopal church, having been a member for almost 62 years. Her other activities included many years of service on the board of Toledo hospital. But her home and family were the objects of her greatest devotion. For 30 years the Hiett home at 2211 Parkwood avenue, and since shortly after the death of Mr. Hiett in 1918, at 2617 Parkwood avenue, had been made the meeting place of her friends and members of the family.
“Surviving Mrs. Hiett are their sons, Ralph W., of San Antonio, Tex.; Stanley J., attorney, of Fraser, Hiett, Wall and Effler, of Toledo, and Lawrence D., chemist at the Electric Auto-Lite Co.; five grandchildren, and her brother, Irving B. From a newspaper clipping - 1895 - FUNERAL OF JOHN HIETT (See No. (801.) ).:
“He Was Well Known and Highly Honored as One of Tippecance Country’s Pioneers.“The funeral services of John Hiett were held at the Sugar Grove Methodist church Tuesday, July 9, at 10:30 a.m. The death of this pioneer of Tippecanoe country had occurred at his home, Saturday, July 6, the result of erysipelas. The services were conducted by Rev. G.W. Switzer, of Brazil, Ind. assisted by Rev. B.H. Beals, the pastor, and Rev. W.E. McKenzie, of Shawnee Mound. An immense gathering of friends and relatives was present to pay their respects to one who was held in highest esteem by all who knew him. John Hiett was born in Adams country, Ohio, October 26, 1808. His ancestral line was marked for intellectual force and purity of character. Mr. Hiett emigrated to Indiana in 1835 and settled at Sugar Grove. He was the last resident survivor of a noble band of pioneers who settled in Jackson township and by enterprise and frugality built the splendid homes and estates which dot this section. In 1848 he was married to Mary Frances Davidson, his surviving widow. His remaining children are: William Hiett, Wolcott, Ind.; Phillip Hiett, North Bend, Nebraska; Dr. F.M. Hiett, Red Oak, Iowa; Mrs. Susana Cartwright, Del-phi, Ind.; Emery R. Hiett, Toledo, Ohio; Dr. George Hiett, Pittsburg, Pa.; Mrs. Louella Hiett McMillin, Roche Harbor, Washington; Mrs. Anna Hiett Switzer, Michigan City, Ind. His grand sons served as pall bearers. Mr. Hiett was known by all to be a man of sterling integrity and of noble principles. His force of character made him known far beyond his quiet neighborhood. He was a member of the Methodist church, of which he had been a supporter for many years. He was a charter member in the Masonic Lodge near his home, and this order participated in the final rites. Thus, in his 867th year, has passed away one whose services to the commonwealth cannot be overestimated --- though much of his life belongs to a private record, it is nevertheless imperishable.” (R112).

Isabella Louella (Isabella L. on the census records, but as an adult used her middle name of Louella. The family removed to Roche Harbor, Wash, where they are listed as the founders of that Place.
I am trying to get more informaiton on these three children, but preliminary investigations show that Dorothy Hiett McMillin probably never married. Paul McMillin died in 1961, per information about their memorial mausoleum, and Fred had died fairly young and probably unmarried.
