This line of Willis, according to placement, would have been a close cousinship to Elisha Hiatt line which would tend to verify the correct placement of Elisha Hiatt as son of John Hiatt and Mary Smith according to DNA matches, I think, ha, just don't know a lot of DNA, but Phil Hyatt, Sam Eaton and Bill Hiatt who are involved in the DNA would know a lot more. IF you wish to have and don't have those contacts, let me know, would be excited to share too, prove out the info we do have. Larry

Larry:
I noticed your posting on Sep 22, 2005 on Esther Johnson's web site and kept a copy so I could make contact. I don't know if what I have is of interest to you but you may get me on track. My wife is the great great grand daughter of Willis Hiatt of Davidson Co., NC (1812-1902). His father appears to be Joseph Hiatt but I am uncertain which one. There is a Joseph Hiatt (1784 ---) from New Garden MM and his wife Mary ? who have a son Willis. But who is Joseph's father and what is his Hiatt descent?I am attaching the Hiatt Chapter as I have it in my master file. It states the dilemma. I have access to the library at Guilford College but so far have not nailed down this connection and I would value your comments.

Hi Larry: Great. That's what I was after. So, if I have it right, Willis Hiatt was the son of John Thomas Hiatt who was the son of Christopher W. Hiatt, of Revolutionary War fame. That would make the proper family connection for our group member, John M, Hyatt, Jr. He already has the family line from Willis Hiatt down to himself. The disconnect was that he had Willis Hiatt as a son of a David Hyatt, son of Asa Hyatt in the Charles Hyatt of Maryland family. So can I say to him with certainty that Willis Hiatt of Davidson County, NC, was a direct descendant of John Hiatt, Jr. and his father? Phil
