Blanche Lucille HAYS

[Hiatt 1.FTW]

(Newspaper Unknown)
                             OBITUARY.
   Little Blanche Lucille Hays, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Hays, who was on her way to school Monday morning, October 5th, riding her pony, as her custom was every morning, to leave papa and mama at home and ride away in a glee, because of her happy disposition, leaving the pathway behind strewn with happy thoughts, like fragrant flowers.  But alas, how soon this was all changed into sadness-- for when she had just passed the home of Mr. Page, between there and the school house, the incident occurred, which is not known whether it be an accident or paralysis, for it was here she was soon found lying, face down, in an unconscious condition, by some little boys on their way to school, who broke the news to her teacher, Miss Marorie Etchison -- who with others, was soon at the scene, and she was removed to Mr. Page's home, where soon her mother and father came in an automobile and took her home, where she lingered in this unconscious state for eight days, when on October 12th, her gentle spirit passed away to be with him who said: "Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of heaven."  All that medical skill and loving hands could do could not change her course for her time had arrived and she must go and answer the call.  Although many were the anxious moments of those eight days, that mother and father waited and watched so patiently for little Blanche to open those eyes and smile again and recognize them once more.  But such was not to be for death had come to claim its own and Jesus, in gathering His jewels that day, like the maiden in the early morn, plucking the fair roses from the garden, plucked a rich and ripe jewel for His crown that will ever shine among the Brightest of earth that ever graced a monarch's brow and will ever shine as the brightness of the sun in these earthly hearts made so dark by pain and grief, to lead them on to the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sins of the work.  While little Blanche was only 6 years, 7 months and 23 days of age, she left a place of one of more mature life in the hearts of many and especially of the writer of this sketch for her last words from a childish heart still ring in our ears: "Will you go home with us tonight?"  But that day did not come on earth.  Someday, we know not when, we will all try to be ready when the summons come to go to little Blanche's heavenly home, and then--
 "Oh what a welcome with beckoning hands outstretched to greet us;
   Oh, what singing, when angel voices sing."
 Her funeral service was conducted at Grand River church at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon by her pastor, in the presence of a large audience of relatives and friends, after which the remains were tenderly laid to rest in the cemetery at that place.
 To the heart stricken mother and father, as well as the grandparents, may we sorrow not as those who have no hope; yet us find the sweetest comfort in the blessing of today for we could not call her back if we would -- but we can go to her May God's richest blessing sustain you to that end, is the prayer of your friend and pastor -- W. H. H.
