Obituary - Henry Clay Oxford

Son of Jonathan & Elizabeth Oxford, was born in Daviess Co., Mo. July 15, 1844, died Sept. 7, 1927. age 83 yrs, 1 mth. & 23 days. He was married to Elizabeth Terry, Feb. 27, 1870. to this union 8 children were born, 4 of whom having died in infancy. the remaining 4 are, Mrs. Wm. Snyder - Mrs. Charles Tolan and Homer & George Oxford, all of the home address.  He is survived by 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and one brother Wm. R. Oxford, who made his home with him for several years and has been kind and helpful through all his sickness.  He united with the Christian church at Clear Creek in early manhood and remained a consistent Christian until the time of his death. He has been a helpless invalid for over two years and death came as a relief to his suffering.  He was a kind and indulgent father, a good husband and neighbor & leaves a host of other relatives & friends to mourn his departure.
