George B. MURRAY

George Murray was born in Scotland, and came to the United States at the age of 18 years, and after following the mercantile and canal contracting business in Pennsylvania some years, he came to Scott County, Iowa where he lived out his life. He was a large land owner, and retired from active business.

Henry COPLEY

                                 1847
In 1847 Henry and Fannie sailed from Belfast with their six month old daughter, Sarah. Sarah became very ill with a fever died and was buried a sea. Henry and Fannie settled in Bradford, Canada where they became parents of five girls and five boys. They later moved to Scott County, some time after the twins were born, near Davenport where they had daughter Fannie in 1868. Henry and Fannie are buried in Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport, Iowa, both are listed on Page 106 of the Tombstone Records of Scotts County, Iowa.

The marriage of Henry Copley and Francis Scanlon took place on 13th March 1849  in the Church of Old Leighlin in County Carlow. Henry was of full age and gave his profession as farmer, his residence as Donygyle, his father's name/profession as John Copley/Farmer. Francis was also of full age, a farmers daughter from Coolnakisha, her was was John Scanlon. The marriage was witnessed by William Copley and Mark Scanlon.

Thomas lived in Grundy County at the time of his mother's death per an article in the Davenport Democrat Newspaper received from the Poweshiek County Historical and Genealogical Society of Iowa.
Thomas was a farmer in Morrison, Iowa.
Thomas, Mary and the children were a happy family until tragically their mother died in 1912.
November 14, 1921
This community is shocked to receive word of the death of Thomas Copley at the home of his brother in Davenport, Iowa. He had been suffering from heart trouble for years and for the past year had been in a serious condition, but two weeks ago when he was strong enough to go to Davenport to visit his brother, it was felt that he was on the road to recovery. He moved with his parents to Scott County, Iowa where he grew to manhood and later came to Grundy County, Iowa. Thomas is buried in Morrison Cemetery, Morrison, Iowa. Grundy County, Iowa Grave Records show as Washington Twp., Washington. They are listed on Page 93 of Grave Records, Thomas W. and Mary are both in Lot 42.
