In 1844 David was preparing to go West. They left with the Orson Hyde Company and arrived in SLC in 1849. They lost one child on the plains, Solomon, age 15. They moved to the fort in Provo, Utah, and a son David Nephi was born 24 Oct 1850. They encountered Cholera on the trip west and were left behind and may have finished the trip with another company. They built a home in Provo on Mainstreet between 3rd and 4th West. The rest of the children were born there.
