“According to son, Wendolin’s citizenship papers, the family sailed from Antwurp, Germany in 1846. The Valentine Straubs were living in London Township, Michigan at the time of the 1870 Census. They were members of the St. Patrick’s Catholic church. At one time they lived on the corner of Allison and Gramlich Road in London Township. John Donald StraubBarbara Knauf and a Barbara Manna associated with a Wendolin Straub. The 1880 Census showed him married to a Clara, aged 33; it also showed his mother, Mary, living with him. He sailed from Antwurp, Germany in 1846. He became a citizen on April 20, 1864, (Monroe Co., MI, USA records p. 183.)
