Andrew Jr., child of Andrew Sr., aged 19 yrs, 2 months, from Germany.5Rohan, Ellen of 3381 La Mesa Rd., Salt Lake City, UT 84109, Rohan, Ellen, certificates, notes, papers, and family history, 24 Jun 1870. "Moosburger was Americanized to Mosebar in 1864. Children went by Mosebar, but parents did not. Variations of the name were: Moseburger, Moszenberger, Moschburger, Moosburger, Mooseberger, Mozenbuyer. Andrew and Chatarine [Catherine? sic] Amont (Amon) (Amonn - French) Mosburger left for America June 1852 on a three month voyage and docked at New York, [NY] 24 Aug. 1852. They went by way of the Erie Canal to Toledo, Ohio, but an outbreak of Cholera forbade them to land. They wtayed with a family, "The Foxes" and settled in Ash Twp. and Stoney Creekt, Monroe Co., MI (which is located on lake Erie). Information from the Mosebar Family History gives more [detail] about the families and the trip over to the USA.
Many families sailed from the port of Antwerp, BELGIUM. The Mosburgers may have also [sailed from Antwerp], being from Baden, GERMANY.
Comparing that the "Straubs" [family] were from Baden, GERMANY and was [sailed from] the port of Antwerp, BELGIUM, they could have also sailed from there [Antwerp?], as well.
Mosbergers have been from Switzerland in other church Ancestral file records from other families, so there could possibly be a connection found earlier, further south from Germany."
